Vocabulary Comics

Your homework for this evening is to create a comic strip using your vocabulary words (Unit 9 please). Here’s an example comic that I created last year (for a different unit):

Unit Ten by McTeach, funnytimes.com

Here’s what you do:

  • Go to http://funnytimes.com
  • Click on “Cartoon Playground”
  • Create your comic strip using the tools provided. Be sure to use at least one vocab word per square.
  • Give your comic a title and add your first name, last initial
  • Click on “publish” and review your comic
  • If everything is okay, click on “save” (but don’t save it to the gallery!)
  • After it’s published, email it to yourself and to me (ctkmcmillan @ mac . com)

Let me know if you have any questions. I’ll be adding your comics to the Vocabulary page on this blog (I’m taking screenshots since we can’t seem to use the HTML code).

Great idea! How do you get your cartoon into your blog please?

    Thanks

      Hello Glenys!

The website used to allow you to grab the HTML code so you could add it to a blog. But it looks like they’ve changed things since I used it last. I may just be missing it, but I’ve looked everywhere.

So, I’ve decided to take screenshots of the comics and will be adding them to the vocabulary page on this blog. The kids will love it!

  2. This looks fun. I give a word of the day to my HS students. This could be a fun change of pace for them. Thanks for the share.

The kids have always loved doing these! I may also look at other comic sites like ToonDoo. Anything to keep my kids engaged!!

I love it! This is a fun way to practice those vocab words and create a visual representation to solidify the concept. Nice.

  4. Our school has a private, secure toondoo-space, which is great. I hadn’t thought of using in this way for vocab homework. Thanks
